In 2002 and 2003, 198 wood duck boxes were hung in Southeast Iowa including Huron Island, Otter Island, Sports-man Hunting Club, the Greater Blue Heron Refuge (Black Hawk Bottoms), local farm ponds, and along Flint Creek.

Ongoing WOOD DUCK BOX PROJECT

In addition to our 2002-2003 Wood Duck Box Project, we have been fortunate to supply food plot seed for local use over the past fourteen years and have been able to give away an additional 30-40 wood duck boxes at our Calling Classic each year to continue to support wildlife conservation. Newly constructed boxes are made to the specifications found in a photo in the reel below.

The building of this blind was coordinated by the Louisa County Conservation Board and is now complete and available to those in need. Another Handicapped Accessible Hunting Blind is planned to be built by the National Wild Turkey Federation at Lake Geode with funds donated by the MVCA.
